A Proud History of Electrical Safety

eSAFE has its roots in an organization that has been a Canadian leader in electrical safety since 1915. Having earned a reputation of excellence in electrical safety over 100 years, eSAFE has evolved to become an independent field evaluation and certification agency, and operates at arm’s length of the regulator. Each year, eSAFE Inspectors evaluate over 100,000 electrical products and systems to ensure compliance with CSA Codes and Standards. Our aim is to find innovative solutions to ensure the safe use of approved equipment, helping your company to maintain productivity in an efficient and cost-effective way.

ABOUT THE ELECTRICAL SAFETY AUTHORITY (ESA)

eSAFE is a non-regulatory business unit of ESA and operates at arms length from the regulator.

ESA is a financially self-sustaining, not-for-profit organization that operates as an Administrative Authority under the Electricity Act, 1998.

ESA is responsible for administering specific regulations related to the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), licensing Electrical Contractors and Master Electricians, electricity distribution system safety, and electrical products safety. ESA also works extensively with stakeholders throughout the province to educate, train, promote, and foster electrical safety.

Through 115 years of Canadian electrical history, ESA has safeguarded the public against potential hazards and established our country's electrical inspection industry.
