Keira Milne - Celebrating Women in the Electrical Industry

March 14, 2023

In celebration of International Women's Day, eSAFE is recognizing the amazing accomplishments of women in the electrical industry throughout March. We're inspired by the achievements of Keira and the many other trailblazers like her. Follow us this month as we pay tribute to the powerful women making a difference in our field.

Meet Keira Milne:

Keira has been working at ATS Corporation for just under two years as an Industrial Electrical apprentice in the automation sector. ATS is globally known for its innovation and automation and Keira has found no boring days in the field as there is always new work coming in, saying:

“Whether it be for new electric vehicles, a nuclear power plant, or even for the little guys in between, I’m always learning something new every day, and working at ATS has shown me how many-sided this trade can be. ATS has been very welcoming since I started, and my coworkers are inclusive and very helpful with our day-to-day tasks. Learning how automation works and building a project from start to finish can be very gratifying”.

Keira loves working in the electrical trade because it allows her to be hands-on and learn as she goes. In her apprenticeship, she frequently gets to wire automation equipment and builds panels from start to finish with the help of her team.

“Being new to a male-dominated industry can be nerve-wracking but it is worth it. Being confident goes a long way. Be proud of your work and you’ll be sure to be a great tradeswoman. Don’t be scared to ask questions and keep your head up. Even though this is a male-dominated trade, I have never had any issues being a woman. Being in the trades pays off and being an electrician is a perfect career to pursue,” Milne shares.

Congratulations Keira, for a successful start to your career in the electrical industry. You are a fantastic addition to your team at ATS and we are thrilled to have a talented and dedicated woman like you working in the electrical trade.
